Like a scrap of paper buffeted by a gentle breeze, this common Flutterscotch flutters around the garden. It's not particularly pretty, or useful, but I'm sure something wants to eat it!

White Flutterscotch is a plain-looking butterfly piñata. While it may look unassuming, it holds a whole rainbow of possibility.

The White Flutterscotch is the base form of all other species of Flutterscotch, and the only one that can be attracted to the garden or fetched by Gretchen Fetchum.

Variants

The White Flutterscotch is unique in that it does not have traditional variants. Instead, feeding it different colored flowers will allow it to transform into a total of 9 different colored Flutterscotches, each with their own uniquely shaped wings and antennae.

These variants are treated as separate species by the game, and each have their own awards the player can earn.

Tips

Because all ten colors of Flutterscotch have their own romancing awards, they can be a daunting task for anyone trying to achieve 100% completion.

Regardless of which color you romance, the baby will always be born as a White Flutterscotch. Additionally, Gretchen Fetchem can only hunt down the White Flutterscotch for you. This means that in order to romance a certain color of Flutterscotch, you will need to evolve the white ones into the color you need, until you have obtained all 7 needed for Master Romancer. This means you can speed up the process by having Gretchen fetch White Flutterscotches for you, along with attracting them to the garden naturally, and simply evolving all 7 needed to earn Master Romancer. Each color will still need to be legitimately romanced once to earn the romancer award.

Trivia

• Flutterscotches are 1 of only two species of piñata to have no voice, the other being Mothdrop.
• On the PC version of the original Viva Piñata, the 10 Flutterscotch variants are the only species whose romance dance is not pre-rendered. This is because every variant uses the exact same animation, and having each as an individual cutscene file may have added too much bloat.
• Regardless of which color you romance, the only color you will get from an egg is the White Flutterscotch. To get the Master Romance award on another color, you will need to evolve White Flutterscotches until you have reached 7 of your desired color.
  • Because of this, it is impossible in normal gameplay to receive a wildcard for Flutterscotch colors other than white.
  • A special red Flutterscotch wildcard does exist and was once distributed by Rare as a famous piñata, but cannot be obtained otherwise.
• Despite not actually needing too to reside, White Flutterscotches in the original Viva Piñata will often eat the daisies before actually residing.
