A Wildcard is a unique type of variant, appearing in both the original Viva Piñata and Trouble in Paradise.
Wildcard variants are independent from the usual color variants, meaning a piñata can have one, both or neither type of variant.
Mechanics
The method to gain a wildcard is very different between the two games.
Viva Piñata
A wildcard can randomly hatch from an egg while romancing piñatas. The chance of a wildcard is initially one in 10,000 (0.01%) but increases with the number of times a wildcard is romanced.
In-game testing needed. Reason: check if variantScore is unique to species or parents, or something else.
Viva Piñata: Trouble in Paradise
If there are 7 or more of the same species in the garden, romancing that species will trigger a special, harder version of the romancing minigame. If completed, this minigame will cause the resulting egg to hatch as a wildcard.
In this game, there are 3 possible wildcards.
In-game testing needed. Reason: Which variant(s) can be obtained by playing alone? Can you get a new wildcard from breeding two different wildcards, the same two wildcards, or both?.
