Freshly qualified in all the latest techniques for curing, healing and repairing Piñatas, Doc Patchingo has come to Piñata Island to set up his new practice. He's still a bit nervous but he hasn't lost one yet (at least not if he arrives in time). If a pinata is attacked, loses a fight or eats something poisonous, call the Doc as fast as possible.

Doc Patchingo (or Patch for short) is the Village's resident doctor. If a piñata gets sick, you can call Patch to get them fixed up, before Dastardos arrives to collect.

Biography

Appearance

Patch is a tall man with blonde hair that covers his eyes. He wears green scrubs and a doctors coat. His mask resembles a blue monkey, with blue gloves to match. His head visible through the mouth. The monkey mask has a doctors light on its head.

Patch is usually seen driving his peddle car, which seems to be too small for him. It is red and has a blue siren light on top. The license plate reads “DOC 1”.

Personality

Patch is fresh out of med school and has the nerves to show it. He speaks with a stutter, and is often quite awkward and nervous. Regardless, he cares a lot about doing his job well and hopes to prove himself reliable to the player.

Gameplay

When a piñata gets sick, such as from eating poisonous food, losing fights, or getting stuck, Patch can be called to heal them up. He will charge a small fee for his services, which will increase every time he heals the same piñata.

Once Patch has been called, he will peddle over to your garden in his car. It takes him about 17 seconds to reach your garden, but obstacles such as fences and water will slow him down once he’s in your garden. If there are any other sick piñata in your garden, you can direct Patch too them while he is here, upon which he will ask for his fee. You can water him and hit him with your shovel like other NPCs, though this is not recommended as this will make him annoyed and just slow him down.

Once he reaches the sick piñata, he will stop and pour out some medicine. He will splash it onto the piñata, healing it instantly. Once he has finished his work, Patch will leave and become available to call again.

If Dastardos smashes open a piñata before Patch can save them, Patch will simply leave and you will not get your money back.

In the original Viva Piñata, Patch could be called directly from his office in the Village menu. In Trouble in Paradise, Patch was removed from the menu, however his services are still fully available, now being streamlined to being called directly from the sick piñata.

In Pocket Paradise, Patch has traded out his dinky little car for a snazzy new helicopter, possibly to better compensate for the top-down perspective of the game.

Mini-Games

Doc Patchingo can participate in the mini-games added in Trouble in Paradise. As an opponent, he will use a (pinata here).

As a judge in The P Factor, Patch prefers piñatas that have been sick and healed by him many times. This is opposite to Dastardos, who prefers piñata who have never gotten sick.
