Sour Piñatas

Sour Piñatas are wild piñatas that have been corrupted by Professor Pester and his lackeys. They will come into your garden to cause trouble, from eating all your loose seeds, to scaring off wild piñatas, to even starting fights.

All sours share a distinct red and black color scheme, with tribal tattoo-inspired patterns and sharp features that give them a far more sinister look than regular piñatas. While sours are a real nuisance to deal with, they can be changed back to their sweet, colorful versions with a little work. These piñatas all have useful abilities that can help you in the garden, so it’s recommended to try and get them all.

Gameplay

Sours will first appear once you have reached the required level, though they won’t actually visit your garden till a few levels afterwards. Once a sour begins visiting your garden, it will roam around your garden and cause trouble. What they do depends on the species.

Sours will spit up sour candy upon entry, which will make your residents sick upon consumption. This will be announced by a sound effect, so staying vigilant and breaking the candy immediately will prevent illness.

Completing the requirements for a sour piñata will cause it to go into a cocoon. Once it emerges, it will now be a normal piñata, and you will be rewarded with the respective piece of the Tower of Sour. This will stop that sour from ever coming back to your garden, unless you turn it off.

Tips

Sours can cause a lot of problems for your growing garden, but there are things you can do to manage them until you can reside them.

Sours are a lot like normal piñata, and can be watered with your watering can or hit with your shovel. Be careful if you decide to destroy a sour piñata though, as sours will spread weed seeds instead of candy upon death.

Feeding a joy candy (test if happy candy works) to a sour will cause a halo to appear over its head. For the rest of its visit, the sour won’t cause any trouble, and behave like a normal wild piñata.

You can purchase pieces of the Tower of Sour from Costolot’s Store, letting you skip having to reside them. This isn’t recommended though, as you won’t be able to obtain the normal version of the piñata until you turn off the block and tame the sour.

• Only one member of a species exists at a time.
• Sour Piñatas are created by Ruffian 4, according to their dialogue in The P Factor. Sour sweets are used in the process, though the specifics are unclear.
• All sours emerge from Dastardos’ house in Viva Piñata.
