Junk are obstacles present in the garden upon starting Viva Piñata and Pocket Paradise. They cannot be moved, and must be destroyed with your shovel to get rid of them. When broken, they will spread chocolate coins around the garden, which becomes your starting cash.

Subsequent gardens do not have junk in them, meaning you cannot see every type of garden junk on one save file. This is likely done to prevent a possible infinite money exploit, due to junk dropping coins upon destruction.

In Trouble in Paradise, garden junk does not exist in the main game. Instead, it can only be found in the credits sequence. Destroying the junk will unlock new accessories for you, and are the same ones unlocked with the use of the Piñata People cheat code.

Types of Junk

Junk Journal Entry
Broken Statue At one time, this was an impressive looking statue. Now it's just junk.
Wheel I don't think that will ever be useful again - just break it with your shovel.
Rock It's a lump of rock. Break it, and your garden will improve.
Ruined Building There isn't much left of this rickety old shed. Smash it with your shovel to clear some ground.
Junk Tank A huge copper tank has been left here. I can't think of anything that it might be useful for, so I'd recommend that you smash it and free up the space underneath.
Old Fence It's broken beyond repair, and the best advice I can give you is to smash it.
Junk Pan This is what happens when you are careless with kitchen utensils. This was probably a very good frying pan, once upon a time. Now that it's been left outside, it's just rubbish.
Junk Skip Once this was filled with rubbish, now it has become rubbish. Get rid of this skip with a couple of whacks from your shovel.
