Awards are the main collectible in the Viva Piñata series. Awards are given to the player for completing specific milestones, most often related to raising piñatas and growing plants. Every award gives the player experience, which contributes toward raising the gardener level.

In Pocket Paradise, awards also contribute toward the completion percentage, a mechanic unique to this game. When in the default garden view, a score from 0-100% will be shown on the top screen, indicating how many of the game's total awards have been received.

Piñata Awards

Visit Award

This award is given after a new species of piñata visits the garden for the first time. Most evolved piñata do not have this award available.

Resident Award

This award is given once a species of piñata has become a resident of the for the first time. Obtaining this award allows Willy Builder to construct the species' home, along with Gretchen Fetchem being able to hunt the species.

Romance Award

This award is given the first time you have romanced a species of piñata and seen their romance dance. Obtaining this award allows for that species to be romanced again with the use of a romance sweet, and allows them to be eligible for the Master Romance Award. Sour piñatas, Dragonache, and Choclodocus cannot obtain this award, or any of the following awards.

Master Romance Award

This award is only given after first obtaining the Romance Award. After you have romanced a piñata species once, having 7 members of that species in your garden at once will grant you this award. This award has several uses, such as fulfilling the Sour Macaraccoons resident requirements, attracting certain species to the garden by Master Romancing another species, or allowing you to block that species from spawning with the use of the Bouncer Board.

While you must romance a species at least once, you do not need to romance to obtain all 7 individuals needed to earn the Master Romance Award. Any method of obtaining that piñata will work, such as ordering them from Gretchen Fetchum, catching them from the Dessert Desert or Pinarctic, evolving piñatas, or even transferring them in from other gardens will work. The only requirement is to have 7 of that species in the garden at one time.

Unhatched eggs will not count towards the total, but baby piñatas will. Selling the house with an egg still on it will break the egg. Sending piñatas to parties will remove them from the count until they return. Be careful to not lose your piñatas before the alert that you have obtained the award has popped up. Once the alert has popped up, you are free to do what you please with the piñata.

Variant Awards

There are a total of 3 different variant awards to collect, corresponding to the 3 total variants the majority of species have. Finding a variant will give you the corresponding award, so finding all 3 variants is needed to obtain all the awards. All varieties of Flutterscotch cannot obtain variant awards.

In Pocket Paradise, each species has only one variant, and there is therefore only one corresponding variant award per species.

Party Awards

Appearing only in Trouble in Paradise, this award is not listed under the "Piñata Awards" section of the Journal and instead appears in its own "Computer Records" section. This type of award can be obtained for a given species by sending it to a party, and restores the species' record to Piñata Central's computer system.

Plant Awards

Growth Award

This award is obtained after successfully growing a plant to maturity for the first time.

Catalyst Award

There are 3 catalyst awards to collect for each species, each obtained after successfully fertilizing a plant. Fully fertilizing a plant will grant all 3 awards. Weeds cannot receive these awards.
